Yesss, the time has come. It’s time to get ready to check off boxes on your summer bucket list. For all those summer-time loving people out there, you know you need to float a river at LEAST once this summer. But you definitely don’t want to get stranded in the middle of a river without all of the essentials so I have curated this list of essentials so you can have the best time floating the river, with zero stress. Let’s get into the absolute must have essentials to have a worry-free float this summer.
Quick Guide
- Floaties
- Cooler
- Phone Protector
- Swimwear
- Sunscreen
- Sunglasses/Hat
- Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker
- Air Pump
- Inflatable Kayaks
1. Floaties
First things first, you need floaties to float! Well I guess you don’t absolutely NEED them, but it can make for a more relaxing time to have a floating device with you. It’s essential to make sure that you buy something durable because a popped floaty could cause havoc on your floating trip. Here are the ones I have gotten. I’ve used them for two summers now going on three and they are thick and durable.
2. Cooler
Staying hydrated is so important when you’re out there on the river enjoying the sun. So make sure to pack some water and whatever other drinks you enjoy on a hot summer day. Keep your cooler in a spare floaty and tie it to your float, or opt with the cooler float. Whatever you choose, don’t forget the ice!!
3. Phone Protector + Waterproof Bag For Essentials
4. Swimwear
Swimwear is just a necessity for quick drying and agility in the water. Wearing regular clothes in the river can bog you down and take forever to dry after the float, leaving you wet and miserable. So get yourself some swimwear. Pick something that you feel comfortable in and you like. Here are a couple plus-size friendly swimsuit options.
5. Sunscreen
Y’all we don’t want sun exposure to age us quicker than we have to. My esthetician sister showed me pictures of people’s skin who don’t wear sunscreen compared to ones that do and i’m telling you, holy moly the difference is night and day. Wear your sunscreen to protect your skin and keep you looking young forever. Okayyy. I’m in my forever young era thank yewww!
6. Sunglasses/Hat
Just like we want to protect our skin with sunscreen, we also need to protect our eyes from the harsh sun rays! So your sunglasses and hat can make for a more enjoyable time out in the sun and in the river, without having to be blinded directly by the sun.
7. Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker
Nothing like listening to some music with your friends and family while you’re floating down the river. This is one of the ultimate ways to make sure you have the best floating trip this summer. Make sure you get something waterproof, and enjoy yourselves out there my friends!
8. Air Pump
Leaving for your float trip without an air pump is a sure way to put a damper on your day. The last thing you want to do is be filling all of the floaties up by mouth! So get yourself and air pump and make this floating trip even more seamless. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy to get the job done. And we’re one step closer to checking off this summer bucket list adventure.
9. Inflatable Kayaks
If you want your float trip to be a little more interesting than the tube life, try opting for an inflatable kayak and paddle your way down the river instead. Inflatable kayaks are very durable and a fun way to get some sun and be on the river without breaking the bank for a hard shell kayak.
So the sun sets on yet another river adventure, and the box gets checked off our summer bucket list. I hope that you cherish the wonderful memories made, and that it goes like a breeze as planned. Enjoy the sun because autumn is making its way around the corner as we speak. Lots of love and light to you, my readers. Thank you for being here. Until next time.
