Low-key And Actually Achievable New Years Resolutions

Source

Ahhh the ring of a new year. Something so special about a new year. It feels like the perfect time for a fresh start. Time to overhaul everything in my life and start anew…haha Just kidding! That’s how you get overwhelmed and not follow through with anything you set your heart out to do. It’s always a good idea to implement new hobbies or habits that will improve your daily life, but pump the brakes on the overhauling mindset! If you’re anything like me…then you’re definitely tempted to scratch it all. But trust me, “slow and steady wins the race” as my blackjack school teacher drilled into my class. So let’s ring in the new year with goals that feel achievable. Here are some new years resolutions that I believe you can stick to this year!

Don’t Go To Sleep Wearing Makeup

This one can be a little daunting, especially when you’re already cozied up in your pajamas watching Below Deck on Peacock. But you know as well as I do, that for us to be glowing like our best selves, we have to take care of our skin. I get it, I, too, have fallen prey to the siren calls of my blankets and fluffy pillows as the hours wind down for the night, but this year that ain’t happening, ok?

I honestly find it easier to wash your face as soon as you get home for the night to increase your chances of getting it done. I find that those times I jump straight into my pjs, are the times I tend to falter. So whatever you gotta do, don’t go to sleep wearing makeup this year. If you don’t have a skincare routine yet, check out mine here.

Read At Least Two Pages A Day

Reading more has always been a new years resolution for me. I love books and I love reading, but too many times I have been sucked into a mindless scroll, or hours on end of video games…(Animal Crossing anybody?), which leads to me neglecting the book I’m reading for days, sometimes weeks. This year, I want to put an end to that. So another easily achievable new years resolution is to read at least two pages a day. If you’re done after two, that’s fine, you have honored your resolution. But more times than not, you might find yourself wanting to read a little bit more due to the power of momentum. It’s a win win! Let’s get book smart this year, bestie. <3 Here are some books to start with if you don’t know what to read. 🙂

Movement Once A Week

I know I have been hounding myself internally thinking that I need more movement in my life. I’m in my twenties feeling stiff with back pain and I know exactly what that means; I’m lacking movement. I don’t want to sugar coat it or cover it with ibuprofen, I want to be healthy. That is where this next resolution comes in. Have some type of movement once a week! I think the idea of working out 5 days a week has intimidated me far too long and that ends this year. Moving one time a week is actually doable, and can make a bigger difference than you can imagine! So get that yoga mat out, flip on your favorite fitness Youtuber, and get to feeling the benefits that movement brings to your body and mind.

Tend To Your Dreams

If you do anyyyyyything this year, please let it be this; tend to your dreams. Whatever that means to you. Put time in, get your reps in. Even if it’s one day a week. Is your dream to be a guitarist? Play your guitar, write riffs, practice. If your dream is to be a Youtuber or Content Creator then script, film the video, and post it. And then do it again and again. Please don’t skip out on going in the direction of your dreams… dancer, singer, musician, producer, film maker, writer, content creator, business owner, entrepreneur, artist, interior designer or whateverrrr makes the little fire inside of you flicker. Tend to that. Start your journey towards that as soon as possible. Future you will thank you.

10 Minutes Timed Clean Up

Okay hear me out. Time yourself 10 short minutes a day to tidy up. Maybe one day you’ll do your bedroom and just pick up the clothes that need to be hung, gather all the dirty clothes in the basket, and tidy up any other loose items strewn about. Then the next day you can do your living room. Maybe dust some surface areas, and do a quick vacuum. You’d be surprised how much you can achieve in 10 minutes. Your home will be looking much better just taking 10 min a day to declutter. When your home is clean and free of clutter, your mind is more clear and free of clutter. So let’s not sleep on this new years resolution and practice being our most organized and clean homekeepers this year!

Although these are simple resolutions, I really do need small bite sized steps to stick with things. So if you’re like me in that sense, I hope these can help you get more organized, healthy, and slaying this year. Here’s to a new year, implementing some new habits, and crushing our goals and dreams. Stay beautiful friends and tell me in the comments below, what are your new years resolutions that you’re going to try out this year?
